This letter is dated October 25,
1985. It is from Licia Albanese, Alfred's muse in opera.
Throughout the years, he attended her performances, from,
I believe, the age of twelve. He would play hookey from
school in order to wait on line to get standing place at
the Metropolitan Opera. He was so happy at the opera and
he was so smart it didn't matter that he missed school.
He cultivated a dignified relationship with the great
diva that lasted decades. - Sofia |
