The WA state bill proposing complete equal access to original birth certificates for adult adoptees (SB 6496/HB 2810) has PASSED OUT OF BOTH THE HOUSE & SENATE HUMAN SERVICES & CORRECTIONS COMMITTEES. The next step is to get it out of both the House and Senate Rules Committees. If we can do that then the bill will go to a floor vote in the House and Senate. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET IT OUT OF RULES!!! Please take the time AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (before Monday Morning 2/9 at the latest) to please phone, fax AND email your support to the legislators below. Please remember to include your name, address and phone on any written correspondence. You don't need to be from WA, but any WA connection noted can only help. :-)
Remember - Adult adoptees should have the same rights to access personal government documents as the next citizen. We are not criminals, we are not shameful and we should not be discriminated against as such!
