This is a fun planetarium and space center in the Oakland hills. They have lots of great educational programs for kids and families. There’s also a movie theater that plays space and science-themed films.

Astronomy Programs at Mt. Tam (2013 schedule TBA)
Monthly New Moon Saturday (May – October) evening programs with a talk and stargazing afterwards. Children are welcome. Be sure to bring warm clothing and flashlights. Immediately following each month's lecture, the audience is invited to remain in the Mountain Theater for a brief Night Sky Tour by the Urban Astronomer, highlighting the prominent constellations, stars and planets visible in the night time sky, before enjoying the observing session (starparty) conducted by the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers in the Rock Springs parking lot.
